Title: Prohibits Tying Up Pets During Hurricanes
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits tying or tethering a dog or cat in certain designated emergency areas during a flood or hurricane, effective August 1, 2018.
Prohibits tying or tethering a dog or cat in a manner that exposes the dog or cat to extreme weather conditions during a hurricane or flood (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this applies to areas in which a disaster or emergency is declared by executive order or proclamation of the governor or local government (Sec. 1).
Authorizes a fine of up to $75 for violations of the above (Sec. 1).
Prohibits the sale or purchase of a horse or mule to be used as a labor animal if it has a debility or disease that prevents it from performing such work without violating the laws against animal cruelty (Sec. 1).
Establishes a maximum fine of $100 or up to 6 months imprisonment for violations of the above (Sec. 1).
Specifies that if this bill is signed by the governor, the effective date of these laws is August 1, 2018 (Sec. 1).
