Title: Prohibits Renting Hotel Rooms for Less than 7 Hours
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits hotels from renting a room for less than 7 consecutive hours in any 24-hour period.
Prohibits hotels from renting a room for less than 7 consecutive hours in any 24-hour period (Sec. 1).
Specifies that if an individual who rents a hotel room vacates the room less than 7 hours after checking in, a hotel is prohibited from re-renting the room until the expiration of the 7-hour period (Sec. 1).
Establishes the following penalties for noncompliance with these regulations(Sec. 1):
For the first offense, a fine of $500;
For the second offense, a fine of $1,000; and
For the third and any subsequent offense, a fine of $2,500 and suspension of the hotel’s permit 1 day each week for 6 months.
Specifies that this bill does not prohibit a local ordinance from imposing more restrictive regulations or more severe penalties for the same conduct prohibited in this bill (Sec. 1).
