Title: Requires Extension of Union Contracts
Vote to pass a bill that requires an extension of current employment terms when a new contract has not been agreed upon between the State and a public employee union.
Defines an employment contract between the State and its public employee unions as a memorandum of understanding (Sec. 1).
Requires the terms of a memorandum of understanding to continue without change until a successor memorandum of understanding is agreed to and ratified (Sec. 1).
Specifies that no memorandum of understanding is valid if it extends for less than 1 year or for more than 3 years (Sec. 1).
Authorizes union representatives to file an action in circuit court against the State to enforce the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1).
Specifies that if passed, this bill becomes effective October 1, 2018 (Sec. 2).
