Vote to pass a bill that requires public school districts to employ 1 mental health professional per 1,500 students.

Highlights:

• Requires each school district to employ, or contract for the services of, mental health professionals with the goal of having 1 mental health professional per 1,500 students by the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, as funds are available (Sec. 1).

• Requires mental health professionals to develop a trauma-informed team (Sec. 1).

• Defines “trauma-informed approach” as incorporating principles of trauma awareness as recommended by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (Sec. 1).
