Title: Exempts Legislators from Public Records Law
Vote to pass a bill that exempts legislators from the state's public records law.
Specifies that Chapter 42.56 of state law, the Public Records Act, does not apply to the legislative branch and its houses, members, employees, and agencies (Sec. 102).
Exempts certain records from public inspection and copying including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 105):
Credit card numbers and other financial information;
Personal identifying information from personnel records;
Records related to terrorism prevention;
Records related to a controversy in which the state is a party; and
Records which the disclosure of would violate the right to privacy.
Requires all other legislative public records be available to the public upon request (Sec. 104).
