Title: Amends Electrical Utility Regulations

Vote to pass a bill that amends various electrical utility regulations.

Highlights:

 

  • Authorizes any gas or electrical corporation to make periodic rate adjustments outside of the general rate proceedings to account for the increase or decrease in residential or commercial customer power usage (Sec. A).

  • Specifies that if the rates of any electrical corporation have not already been adjusted to reflect the effects of the federal 2017 Tax Cut and Jobs Act the public service commission will have the authority to adjust the electrical corporation’s rates based on the provisions of said act (Sec. A).

  • Requires an average annual discount rate of 40% for business customers that add large amounts of new electricity which will remain fixed for a period no less than 3 years and not to exceed 5 years (Sec. A).

  • Requires electrical corporations make solar rebates available starting January 1, 2019 for both residential and nonresidential customers (Sec. A).
