Title: Prohibits Providing Conversion Therapy to Minors
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits licensed practitioners from performing conversion therapy on minors.
Prohibits licensed counselors or other similar professionals from engaging in conversion therapy with an individual under the age of 18 (Sec. 2).
Specifies that it is unlawful to receive monetary compensation in exchange for providing conversion therapy to a minor (Sec. 2).
Defintes conversion therapy as any practice that seeks to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity or effort to reduce an individual's attraction towards the same gender (Sec. 2).
Prohibits state funds, or any funds belonging to a municipality or local government, from being spent for the purpose of conducting conversion therapy (Sec. 2).
Prohibits practitioners from advertising conversion therapy services to minors (Sec. 2).
Prohibits advertisement claims that state that conversion therapy is harmless or without risk to those receiving it (Sec. 2).
Specifies that a violation of these provisions is considered an “unfair or deceptive act or practice” as defined by New Hampshire’s consumer protection laws, and any individual convicted of such will be charged with a misdemeanor in civil court (Sec. 2).
