Title: Prohibits Sport Franchises from Building on Publicly Owned Land
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits sport franchises from building or renovating on publicly owned land, effective July 1, 2018.
Requires that the lease or sale of a facility on publicly owned land be at fair market value (Sec. 1).
Requires contracts entered into by sports franchises on or after July 1, 2018 for construction or renovation on public land to include a provision obligating the sports franchise to pay off any outstanding debt incurred by the state to fund such construction (Sec. 1)
Defines a “facility” as a structure and its adjoining parcels of land that are primarily used to host games or events held by a sport franchise (Sec. 1).
Rep. Kionne McGhee is not listed on our vote breakdown because his vote did not accurately reflect his intentions; he initially voted “Nay” but changed his vote to “Yea” after the roll call.
