Title: Prohibits Dilation and Evacuation Abortions Prior to 20 Weeks

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits dilation and extraction abortions prior to 20 weeks of pregnancy and other forms of abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits an individual who is 20 weeks pregnant from attaining an abortion unless the physician performing the procedure certifies in writing that the abortion is necessary in order to prevent either the death or irreversible injury of the pregnant individual (Sec. 3)

  • Prohibits dilation and evacuation abortion procedures, also known as dismemberment abortions, except in cases where the physician performing the abortion has determined in writing that the procedure is a medical emergency (Sec. 3).

  • Requires the licensed physician performing the abortion attain at least one other separate licensed physician diagnoses of the pregnant individual’s medical emergency (Sec. 3).
