Vote to pass a bill that amends housing laws by capping the number of sex offenders allowed in homeless shelters, effective January 1, 2018.

Highlights:

• Prohibits any facility that operates in any manner as a homeless shelter and is located on state property from permitting more than 10% of its beds to be utilized by registered sex offenders (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits the state from establishing or maintaining any homeless shelter within 1,000 feet of a homeless shelter in existence as of January 1, 2017 (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that none of the limitations and restrictions in this bill apply to any healthcare facility (Sec. 1).

• Requires the bill to become effective on January 1, 2018 (Sec. 1).
