Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the marketing of foods that do not meet certain nutritional standards in schools.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits a school, school district, or charter school that participates in the National School Lunch Program from advertising any food or beverage during the school day unless such product can be sold or served on campus during the school day (Sec. 2).

  • Prohibits a school, school district, or charter school that participates in the National School Lunch Program from participating in any corporate incentive program that rewards students with free or discounted food and beverages that do not meet certain nutritional standards (Sec. 2).

  • Specifies that these restrictions do not apply to media not controlled by the school, clothing with brand imaging worn on school grounds, advertising contained within product packaging, or advertising of infrequent school fundraising events (Sec. 2).

  • Specifies that the provisions of this act do not require a school or school district to replace durable items with branded images, such as scoreboards or uniforms, in order to be in compliance with this act (Sec. 2).
