Title: Establishes a Muslim Advisory Council

  • Establishes the Illinois Muslim American Advisory Council (Sec. 15).

  • Requires that the Council consist of 21 members appointed in the following way (Sec. 20):

    • 1 member appointed by the governor as representative of the Governor’s Office;

    • 4 members each appointed by the governor, the president of the senate, the speaker of the house, the minority leader of the senate, and the minority leader of the house, respectively; and

    • A chairperson selected from among the members by the governor.

  • Specifies that members of the Council shall serve for 2 years (Sec. 20).

  • Requires the Council to meet at least monthly and authorizes up to two public hearings annually (Sec. 25).

  • Requires the Council to release reports on its policy recommendations semi-annually (Sec. 30).
