Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the sale of certain toy guns and imitation firearms.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the sale of toy guns or imitation firearms that appear to be genuine, unless they are (Sec. 1):

• A color other than black, blue, silver, or aluminum;

• Marked with a non-removable orange stripe that is at least one inch in width and runs the entire length of each side of the gun’s barrel; and

• Equipped with a barrel that is at least 1 inch in diameter and closed at a distance of at least 1-half of an inch from the barrel’s front end with the same material of which the toy gun or imitation firearm is made.

• Specifies that theatrical firearms are exempt from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the requirement that the barrel of the firearm be closed does not apply to water guns (Sec. 1).

• Establishes penalties for violations at a maximum of $500 for the first offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense (Sec. 1).
