Vote to pass a bill that establishes automatic voter registration for individuals applying for or renewing a driver's license or ID at the Department of Motor Vehicles

Highlights:

• Requires that every individual who is applying at the Division of Motor Vehicles for a driver’s license or license renewal to be simultaneously offered an application to register to vote, or if they’re already registered, be afforded the opportunity to change their address for voting purposes (Sec. 1).

• Requires the applicant to be afforded the opportunity to decline to register to vote (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits the Department of Motor Vehicles from transmitting or recognizing the voter registration applications of individuals who fail to certify they are citizens of the United States (Sec. 1).

• Establishes that individuals who knowingly and wilfully provide false information on their voter registration applications will be subject to prosecution (Sec. 1).
