Title: Amends Building Code Exemptions to Comply with Federal Requirements
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that amends building code exemptions to comply with federal requirements.
Specifies that agricultural structures such as barns, greenhouses, farm production facilities and crop storage buildings are exempt from building code and permit requirements as long as they are no more than 1,000 square feet in floor area and are not used as dwellings or lodging units (Sec. 2).
Requires owners and occupiers intending to use exemptions from federal regulations to give written notice to the appropriate county agency about the building’s proposed type, structure, and development (Sec. 2).
Prohibits owners and occupiers from beginning construction work on exempt buildings until the appropriate county agency has verified that the building is compliant with local regulations (Sec. 2).
Prohibits connecting electrical power and plumbing systems to a building or structure without first obtaining the appropriate county permit (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this bill does not exempt agricultural structures from the requirements of other county, state, or federal ordinances, including those pursuant to the National Flood Insurance Program (Sec. 2).
