Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that limits self-service fuel dispensing to low-population counties of eastern Oregon and other specified areas.

Highlights:

• Authorizes individuals to pump fuel into the tank of a motor vehicle or container themselves after 6 p.m. and before 6 a.m. in low-population counties of eastern Oregon (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes an individual to use an automatic nozzle to dispense fuel without the owner, operator, or employee in the immediate vicinity of the tank or container being filled (Sec. 1).

• Requires any retail space that provides goods or services other than those for maintenance or repair of motor vehicles to have an owner, operator, or employee available to dispense fuel between the hours of 6pm and 6am (Sec. 1).

• Requires nonretail facilities that plan to dispense retail fuel to notify the State Fire Marshal 90 days prior to commencement of sales (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that this legislation applies to Eastern Oregon, as well as Claptop, Tillamook, and Curry counties (Sec. 2).
