Title: Amends Education Accountability Standards

Highlights:

  • Requires all school districts to have a district improvement plan that is developed, updated, and revised annually (Sec. 1).

  • Requires all district improvement plans to include a comprehensive needs assessment and appropriate measures of performance (Sec. 2).

  • Requires the removal of school charters if a school receives an unacceptable performance or financial rating (Sec. 3).

  • Postpones the implementation of the A-to-F school rating system until 2019 (Sec. 17).

  • Requires school district ratings to be made public no later than August 15th of every year (Sec. 18).

  • Requires the education commissioner to provide school districts with a document containing simple guidelines on how school district ratings will be assigned in a format that can easily be distributed to parents (Sec 22).
