Vote to pass a bill that authorizes fund-raising registration plates for Choose Life Michigan Fund.

Highlights:

• Requires a Choose Life Fund to be created within the State Treasury that will be directed by the state treasurer with funds from license plate fees (Sec. 1).

• Requires the creation of a fund-raising license plate recognizing the Choose Life Michigan Fund (Sec. 1).

• Specifies money from the fund will be distributed to eligible, tax exempt, nonprofit organizations with the 501 (c)(3) designation to promote life-affirming choices (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that eligible nonprofit organizations include but are not limited to the following (Sec. 1):

• Crisis pregnancy centers;

• Homes for pregnant women; and

• Organizations that provide outreach to at-risk women.

• Specifies that “life-affirming programs and projects” include but are not limited to the following (Sec. 1):

• Media campaigns;and

• Specialty outreaches to at-risk populations such as minorities, teenagers, college-aged women, campaigns to promote adoption, and suicide prevention.
