Title: Revises Florida Retirement System
Vote to adopt a conference report that passes a bill that establishes provisions regarding pension plans and Florida's retirement system, effective July 1, 2018.
Establishes a comprehensive package of health insurance and retirement benefits and a personnel system for state employees (Secs. 1-7)
Requires a reduction in pension benefits for judges beginning on July 1, 2017 (Sec. 15).
Authorizes certain employees enrolled in the Florida Retirement System on or before July 1, 2018 to retain their pension and/or investment plans (Sec. 1).
Establishes new eligibility criteria for surviving children of an individual killed in the line of duty (Sec. 8).
Reduces the accrual rate for elected officials and other state employees (Sec. 8).
Establishes provisions regarding the renewal of membership in the Florida Retirement System for certain retirees who become reemployed by the state (Sec. 7).
Authorizes any renewed member who is not receiving the maximum health insurance subsidy to earn additional credit towards the maximum health insurance subsidy (Sec. 7).
