Title: Requires Parental Consent for Minors to Join Labor Unions
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits labor unions from accepting a minor as a member without obtaining written parental consent, effective September 1, 2017.
Prohibits labor unions from accepting a minor as a member unless the labor union obtains a form provided by the Texas Workforce Commission that contains the signed consent of the minor’s parent, managing conservator, or guardian (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this bill only applies to a minor who applies to join a labor union on or after January 1, 2018 (Sec. 3).
This act takes effect September 1, 2017 (Sec. 4).
