A vote to pass a bill that increases penalties for committing violent acts against police officers, firefighters, emergency responders, and members of the Mississippi Army or Air National Guard, effective July 1, 2017.

Highlights:

  • Specifies that killing an emergency medical technician, first responder, fireman, utility worker, or peace officer while such individual is acting in their official capacity is considered capital murder (Sec. 2).
