Vote to pass a bill that establishes automatic voter registration at driver services facilities and other state agencies.

Highlights:

• Requires the State Board of Elections to establish and maintain a portal for automatic electronic voter registration and to transfer all voter registration information it collects to the appropriate election authority (Sec. 1).

• Requires “designated government agencies” to electronically transfer personal information relevant to voter registration to the State Board of Elections, unless an individual declines registration (Sec. 1).

• Defines “designated government agencies” as state or federal agencies including, but not limited to, the following agencies (Sec. 1):
• The Secretary of State’s Driver Services and Vehicle Services Departments;
• The Department of Human Services;
• The Department of Healthcare and Family Services; and
• The Department of Employment Security.

• Requires the State Board of Elections to begin using data provided by designated government agencies for voter registration cross-reference purposes by September 1, 2016 (Sec. 1).
