Title: Prohibits Discrimination on Basis of Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits an employer from engaging in any of the following practices (Sec. 1):
    • Refusing to hire or discharging an individual because of sexual orientation or gender identity;
    • Limiting employment opportunities because of sexual orientation or gender identity; and
    • Refusing to refer an employee for employment because of sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • Prohibits a labor organization from excluding from membership or limiting membership based on sexual orientation or gender identity (Sec. 1).
  • Exempts corporations, educational institutions or societies that are exempt from the religious discrimination provisions of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1).
