A vote to pass a bill that prohibits the State Medical Association from issuing or renewing physician licenses following the performance of an abortion.

Highlights:

• Prohibits any physician participating in the performance of abortion from obtaining or renewing an Oklahoma license to practice medicine (Sec. 3).

• Establishes a prison sentence ranging from 1 to 3 years for performing an abortion (Sec. 3).

• Requires the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision and the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners to revoke the license of any allopathic physician or osteopathic physician who performs an abortion in Oklahoma, except when necessary to preserve the life of the pregnant individual (Sec. 3).

• Expands the definition of “unprofessional conduct” to include the performance of an abortion, except when necessary to preserve the life of the pregnant individual (Secs. 1 & 2).

• Prohibits performing or inducing an abortion subsequent to the end of the 1st trimester unless it’s done in a general hospital (Sec. 3).

• Specifies that a threat of suicide does not constitute a medical emergency that allows for an abortion (Sec. 3).
