Vote to pass a bill that prohibits undocumented immigrants or non-permanent residents from serving in a local governing body, effective July 1, 2016.

Highlights:
  • Prohibits an individual who is not a citizen or “lawful permanent resident” of the United States or Georgia from serving on a state authority, school, commission, county or municipal boards (Secs. 1-3).
  • Defines “lawful permanent resident” as an individual who is not a United States citizen, but has been authorized to live permanently in the United States (Secs. 1-3).
