Vote to pass a bill that authorizes a retiree to be reemployed with a participating employer while receiving pension allowance earned from a previous participating employer.

Highlights:

• Authorizes a retiree to be reemployed with a participating employer while receiving pension allowance earned from a previous participating employer if the retiree fits the following criteria (Sec. 1):
• Is not reemployed by a participating employer for a period of at least 60 days from the retiree’s retirement date; 
• Is reemployed by a different agency; and
• Is not receiving any employer paid retirement service credit or retirement related contributions from the participating employer.

• Prohibits the state pension office from cancelling the retirement allowance of a retiree who is reemployed with a participating employer within 1 year of the retiree’s retirement date if the retiree meets the eligibility requirements for reemployment (Sec. 1).

• Requires a participating employer to pay the contribution rate for a reemployed retiree to the state pension office as if the retiree’s reemployed position were considered an eligible, full-time position in the state pension system (Sec. 1).
