Vote to pass a bill that amends shoreline development regulations.
Highlights:
Requires the Department of Natural Resources to issue a general permit that authorizes shoreline property owners to annually remove material in the following amounts (Sec. 31 & 34):
30 cubic yards of material from the bed of an inland lake; and
100 cubic yards of material from the bed of outlying waters.
Prohibits the department from requiring an individual to collect a sediment sample as part of an application for an individual or general permit, unless the department has specific information that indicates contaminants may be present (Sec. 32 & 33).
Prohibits the department from identifying an area as possessing significant scientific value before obtaining approval by the joint committee for review of administrative rules (Sec. 7).
