Title: Amends Definition of "Person" for Assault and Homicide

Vote to pass a bill that amends the definition of "person" for purposes of assault and homicide, effective July 1, 2015.

Highlights:

  • Expands the definition of “person” for purposes of assault and homicide to include a fetus at every stage of gestation, from conception to live birth (Secs. 1-3).
  • Exempts the following acts from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1): 
    • An act committed by the mother of the fetus;
    • An act involving a medical procedure performed by a physician or other licensed medical professional at the request of a mother or the mother's legal guardian; or
    • An act involving the lawful dispensation or administration of lawfully prescribed medication.
