Title: Exempts Certain Students from Out-of-State Tuition

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes certain students to be charged in-state tuition, effective July 1, 2015.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes a student to be classified as a Tennessee resident and charged in-state tuition, if the student meets the following requirements (Sec. 1):
    • The student is lawfully present in the United States; and
    • The student graduated from a Tennessee high school, obtained a GED or HiSET through a state approved institution or organization, or completed high school in a Tennessee home school program.
  • Specifies that the provision of this bill will apply to the 2015-2016 academic school year and all those thereafter (Sec. 3).
