Vote to pass a bill that repeals the film and digital media production assistance program, effective October 1, 2015.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the Michigan Film Office from providing additional funding for media productions in the state beginning on October 1, 2015 (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that this bill applies to any entertainment media created in Michigan for distribution to the general public in 2 or more states, regardless of its format or means of distribution, whether it be television, film, video games, or audio recordings (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes certain funding for expenses incurred prior to September 30, 2016, except if the production primarily contained obscene matter, televised news or current events, live sporting events, or political advertising (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that after September 30, 2016 when all payments and obligations have been satisfied, any money remaining in the Michigan Film Promotion Fund will be transferred to the general state fund (Sec. 1).

• Requires that the funds transferred from the Michigan Film Promotion Fund be used only to repay state public employee retirement systems for any losses incurred due to the construction or operation of a qualified facility (Sec. 1).
