Title: Reduces Unemployment Benefits

Vote to pass a bill that reduces the number of weeks that an individual can receive unemployment benefits.

Highlights:

  • Reduces an individual’s maximum annual unemployment benefit amount from 25 times the weekly benefit amount to 20 times the weekly benefit amount (Sec. 3).
  • Amends the weekly benefit amount from one-twenty-sixth of an individual’s highest paying base period quarter, to one-twenty-sixth of an individual’s average pay for 4 base period quarters (Sec. 2). 
  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill apply to an initial claim filed on, or after, the first day of the quarter following the effective date of this bill (Secs. 2 & 3).
