Vote to pass a bill which establishes new requirements to ensure the availability of drugs for execution by lethal injection.

Highlights:

• Requires the Director of the Department of Corrections to enter into contracts with a pharmacy or other facility to compound the drugs necessary to carry out execution by lethal injection (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the identities of individuals involved in the compound and manufacture of drugs for lethal injection, as well as the names of materials used in the compound of drugs for execution, shall be confidential and not subject to Freedom of Information Act requests (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes pharmacists to compound drugs at the request of the Department of Corrections, and specifies the manner in which such drugs must be labeled (Sec. 1).
