Vote to pass a bill that reduces the number of students needed to establish a new school district.

Highlights:

• Reduces the number of students required to create a new school district from 4,000 to 2,500 (Sec. 1).

• Reduces the number of students that must be left in an existing school district when a new district is created by detaching from the original district from 4,000 to 2,500 (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill only apply to school districts in the following circumstances (Sec. 1):
• The district has an average of at least 5,000 students, but no more than 20,000 students in the school year immediately preceding the detachment; or
• The district encompasses a total area of 450 square miles or more, currently or in the future.
