Vote to pass a bill that reduces the number of students needed to establish a new school district.
Highlights:
Reduces the number of students required to create a new school district from 4,000 to 2,500 (Sec. 1).
Reduces the number of students that must be left in an existing school district when a new district is created by detaching from the original district from 4,000 to 2,500 (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill only apply to school districts in the following circumstances (Sec. 1):
The district has an average of at least 5,000 students, but no more than 20,000 students in the school year immediately preceding the detachment; or
The district encompasses a total area of 450 square miles or more, currently or in the future.
