Vote to pass a bill that requires a crew of at least 2 individuals on a freight train.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a railroad from operating a train used for the movement of freight without a crew consisting of at least 2 individuals (Sec. 1).

• Establishes the following civil penalties for a railroad that “willfully” violates the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1):
• A fine between $250 and $1,000 for the first offense committed within 3 years;
• A fine between $1,000 and $5,000 for the second offense committed within 3 years; and
• A fine between $5,000 and $10,000 for the third and subsequent offenses committed within 3 years.

• Exempts hostler service and utility employees from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1).
