Vote to pass a bill that prohibits certain sympathetic actions made by a health care provider from being used against them in court.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the following actions taken by a “health care provider” or an agent or employee of a “health care provider” that express apology, fault, or sympathy to a patient or relative of a patient from being used as admissible evidence in a civil action or administrative hearing (Sec. 1):
• The statements;
• The gestures; or
• The conduct. 

• Expands the definition of “health care provider” to include an ambulatory surgery center, an adult family home, and a residential care apartment complex that is certified or registered by the Department of Health Services. (Sec. 1).
