Highlights:

  • Increases the minimum hourly wage from $8.00 to the following amounts (Secs. 28-30, 77, 79, & 80):
    • From $8.00 to $9.00 per hour, beginning January 1, 2015,
    • From $9.00 to $10.00 per hour, beginning January 1, 2016; and
    • From $10.00 to $11.00 per hour, beginning January 1, 2017.
  • Requires employers to pay tipped employees $3.00 per hour, beginning January 1, 2015, with the following increases (Secs. 34-36 & 77-80):

Highlights:
  • Increases the minimum hourly wage from $8.00 to the following amounts (Secs. 2-4):
    • $9, beginning January 1, 2015;
    • $10, beginning January 1, 2016; and
    • $11, beginning January 1, 2017.
  • Requires the minimum wage for tipped workers to be 50 percent of the minimum wage for other workers (Sec. 7).
  • Requires the minimum hourly wage to be at least $0.50 above the federal minimum wage (Sec. 6)
  • Increases the minimum hourly wage annually by the percentage increase in the northeast region’s Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI) (Sec. 5).
  • Increases the unemployment insurance taxable wage base from $14,000 to $21,000, beginning January 1, 2015 (Sec. 12).
  • Amends the rate at which employers contribute to unemployment insurance (Sec. 16).
  • Increases the maximum period of time an individual can work and be considered a “seasonal employee” from 16 weeks to 20 weeks (Sec. 9).
