Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires abortion providers to have hospital admitting privileges.

Highlights:
  • Requires a licensed physician performing or inducing an abortion to have “active admitting privileges” at a hospital no further than 30 miles from the location of the abortion procedure (Sec. 1).
  • Defines “active admitting privileges” as good standing as a member of the medical staff of a hospital, currently licensed by the Department of Health and Hospitals, with the ability to admit a patient and to provide diagnostic and surgical services (Sec. 1).
  • Prohibits a physician from administering an abortion-inducing drug to an abortion patient without obtaining certain voluntary and informed consent measures, including, but not limited to, an ultrasound performed 24 hours before the abortion (Sec.1).
  • Establishes a maximum $4,000 fine for any physician who violates the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1).
