Title: Increases Sales Tax

Vote to repass a joint resolution, after having concurred with Senate amendments thereto, that submits an amendment to the voters that increases the sales and use tax by .75 percent, effective January 1, 2015.

Highlights:

  • Appropriates the revenue from the sales and use tax increase to the following funds, to be used for projects related to local roads, bridges, state highways, city transportation systems, and other approved transportation projects (Sec. A):

  • Requires the Highways and Transportation Commission to approve a list of projects, programs, and facilities that would be funded by the sales and use tax increase, prior to any election in which the provisions of this bill are being considered (Sec. A).
  • Requires the provisions of this bill to be reapproved by the voters every 10 years (Sec. A).
