Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that authorizes the Fair Political Practices Commission to conduct an audit or investigation before an election.

Highlights:

• Authorizes the Fair Political Practices Commission to audit or investigate any record under this bill to ensure compliance before an election (Sec. 8). 

• Repeals the requirement that an audit or investigation of any candidate or committee must begin after the last date for filing the first report or statement following an election for which the candidate ran (Sec. 4).

• Requires an agent and an independent contractor to provide candidates or committees all of the information required to be reported by the provisions of this bill no later than 3 working days prior to the time the campaign statement regarding expenditures must be filed (Sec. 2).

• Requires campaign funds under the control of a former candidate or a former elected official to be considered surplus campaign funds when the following conditions are met (Sec. 3):
• 90 days after leaving elective office; or
• 90 days following the postelection reporting period following the defeat of the candidate for elective office.
