Vote to pass a bill that authorizes school districts to educate students on the history of traditional winter celebrations.

Highlights:

• Authorizes school districts to educate students about the history of traditional winter celebrations including, but not limited to, Christmas and Hanukkah (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes school districts to acknowledge traditional winter celebrations in ways that include, but are not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):
• The use of traditional winter celebration greetings;
• The display of scenes or symbols associated with traditional winter celebrations; and
• The organization of traditional holiday activities.

• Requires districts acknowledging winter celebrations with a display or activity to include a disclaimer that the display or activity is not intended to represent an endorsement of adherence of any particular religion or religious belief by the school district (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits students and district staff from endorsing or encouraging a particular religion or religious belief when participating in traditional winter celebrations (Sec. 1).
