Vote to pass a bill that requires environmental ratings systems to promote the use of state lumber in building projects, effective October 1, 2013.
Highlights:
- Requires high performance environmental ratings systems used by construction projects to meet certain directives including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):
- Prohibits the rating systems from using a credit system that disadvantages materials or products manufactured or produced in North Carolina;
- Requires the rating system to give certification credits equally to forest products grown or manufactured in North Carolina; and
- Requires the rating system to be developed in conformity with American National Standards Institute procedures.
