Title: Prohibits Multiple Ballots from Being Turned in by 1 Individual

Vote to pass a bill that limits the number of mail-in ballots an individual can collect and deposit during an election, effective September 1, 2013.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits an individual from collecting and depositing more than 10 mail-in ballots from voters during an election, except in the following instances (Sec. 1):
    • If the envelope contains a ballot voted by a member of the military or their spouse or dependent; and 
    • If the envelope is prepared by a caretaker at a state-licensed care facility who is acting within the scope of his or her normal duties.
  • Classifies the compensation of another individual for actions in violation of this bill as a misdemeanor, with a penalty of up to 1 year in jail and a fine of $4,000 (Secs. 1 & 2).
