Vote to pass a bill that prohibits health plans offered through the health insurance exchange from including coverage for abortions, effective 60 days after the date of enactment of this bill.
Highlights:
- Prohibits abortion coverage in qualified health plans offered through the health insurance exchange, except in the following circumstances (Sec. 2):
- The abortion is necessary to avert the death of the mother; or
- The abortion is performed in the case of a pregnancy caused by rape or incest.
- Specifies that nothing in his bill shall prohibit individuals from purchasing optional supplemental abortion coverage if the individual pays a separate premium for the coverage and obtains the coverage outside of the health insurance exchange (Sec. 2).
