Title: Eminent Domain

Vote to override a veto of a bill that changes laws relating to taking property by eminent domain, which includes requiring 75 percent of property to be deemed blighted or slum in order to be taken by eminent domain for redevelopment purposes. The bill also requires the purchasers to pay the owner for the appraised value, relocation and other expenses, or 130 percent of the appraised value if the owner agrees. The bill sets limits on condemning property for new airports or airport facilities and sets new notice requirements for projects that are not undertaken by the state, county, city or municipality, among other changes.
