Title: Association with Labor Unions

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote on a motion to deem this bill inexpedient to legislate. This bill prohibits requiring an individual to: join or maintain membership, resign, or refrain from joining a labor union. The bill also prohibits an employer from automatically deducting dues or membership fees for a labor union from pay checks or using labor union recommendations, approval or referrals of a prospective employee as the sole guidance for hiring. The bill also makes strikes, picketing, boycotting or any other action in order to pressure an agreement with an employer that would violate this act illegal.

NOTE: THIS IS AN "INEXPEDIENT TO LEGISLATE" VOTE AND IS A VOTE TO KILL THE PIECE OF LEGISLATION. IF THE VOTE SUCCEEDS, THE LEGISLATION DIES. IF THE VOTE FAILS, THE LEGISLATION IS STILL UP FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE CHAMBER.
