Highlights:
- Appropriates $2 million from the State General Fund for the Department of Human Services to support food bank initiatives in the 2013-2014 fiscal year and each fiscal year after (Sec. 5).
- Establishes a tax credit for farmers who donate self-produced food commodities to food banks in an amount equaling the lesser of $5,000 or 15 percent of the value of the commodities donated during the tax year for which the credit is claimed, effective during tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2014 (Secs. 10 & 11).
