Title: Establishes the Constitutional Right to Farm

Vote to pass a joint resolution that submits a constitutional amendment to the voters that establishes the right to farm.

Highlights:

  • Establishes the constitutional right of farmers and ranchers to engage in modern ranching and farming practices (Sec. A). 
  • Prohibits the state from enacting any law which limits the right of farmers to use agricultural technology and modern and traditional livestock production and ranching practices (Sec. A).
  • Specifies that this constitutional amendment will appear on the ballot in the next general election or special election called by the governor as follows (Sec. B):
    • “Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to ensure: That the right of Missouri citizens to employ modern farming and ranching practices and equipment not be infringed.”

NOTE: AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION REQUIRES APPROVAL BY A SIMPLE MAJORITY IN THE HOUSE AND THE SENATE, AND THEN APPROVAL BY A SIMPLE MAJORITY OF VOTERS DURING AN ELECTION.
