Vote to pass a bill that authorizes counties to tax cigarette sales up to a certain amount, and allocates the tax revenues, effective 91 days after the regular legislative session ends.

Highlights:

• Authorizes a county to tax the sale or use of cigarettes and other tobacco products at a rate no greater than the state cigarette and tobacco tax rate (Secs. 1 & 2).

• Requires 40 percent of any revenue collected from a county cigarette and tobacco tax to be spent on mental health services, addiction programs, and health care services related to tobacco use prevention and cessation (Secs. 4 & 6).
