Vote to pass a bill that expands Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act, effective January 1, 2014.
Highlights:
Authorizes an individual to receive Medicaid coverage provided under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) if the individual meets certain requirements including, but not limited to (Sec. 4):
The individual is between the age of 19 and 65;
The individual is not pregnant; and
The individual has a household income that does not exceed 133 percent of the poverty line.
Authorizes an individual to receive Medicaid coverage provided under the PPACA if the individual meets all of the following requirements (Sec. 4):
The individual is under 26 years of age;
The individual was in foster care when they turned 18; and
The individual was enrolled in a medical assistance program while in foster care.
Requires the state to implement an alternative plan if the federal government reduces planned assistance for the PPACA to the state before January 1, 2020 (Sec. 4).
