Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that authorizes certain individuals who are ineligible to receive a social security number to obtain a driver's license.
- Authorizes the Department of Motor Vehicles to issue a driver’s license to an individual who meets the following requirements (Sec. 2):
- The individual is ineligible to receive a social security number, but is able to provide satisfactory proof that he or she is lawfully present in the United States; and
- The individual has met all other qualifications for licensure.
- Specifies that any document proving an individual’s acceptance into the “deferred action for childhood arrivals program” is satisfactory proof that he or she is lawfully present in the United States (Sec. 3).
